Intercessory Prayer | Song of My Soul

About The Poem

Song of My Soul touches on the parable of the sower and the importance of intercessory prayer. Praying for others is just as important as praying for yourself. My heart is full of compassion for the lost. We all start estranged from God. Song of My Soul is a genuine prayer to God, asking Him to bring the heart of the prodigal, the wanderer, and the lost back home to Him.

Song of My Soul

Precious hearts crying out
to God;
While the prodigal — wanders
through the dark.

Hear the song of my soul…
Lord, only You — can bring them
home.

You’ll leave the ninety-nine
because you know they are safe.
You have to find the ones
who have strayed
— their hearts are crying out
to you.

Fill them with life and
give them eyes to see;
Enter their hearts, so they may
believe
— I will let my heart intercede
for them.

I pray they won’t have to
wander for too long
— a ring and a robe for their
return.

Hear my intercession for
the prodigal — Listen to the song
within my soul…
precious hearts crying out to
the LORD.

Scriptures

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing (Luke 15:4-6)

But the father said to his servants, bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him… for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found (Luke 15:22-24)

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! (Psalm 130:1-2)

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23)
