About The Poem

Fractured is a Christian poem about rebirth and one of the four poems published in Crafton Hills College Literary Magazine: The Sand Canyon Review 2025 Edition. This poem captures the transformative power of a spiritual rebirth: “Sown into New Life; Darkness surrounded me for a moment.”

The seed is a symbol of the process taking place within a believer. God’s love is powerful and capable of bringing forth life: “A seed imperishable, by God’s enduring love. Sown into the good soil, where life begins.” Fractured is the testimony of a spirit being reborn from the “passionless soil.”

The spirit experiences “New Life” after the darkness surrenders to the light captured by the seed’s fracture. Light has a beautiful way of dispelling and overcoming the darkness. Jesus himself is the light, and those who follow him will never walk in darkness (John 8:12).

Fractured

Sown into New Life;
Darkness surrounded me for a moment.
Moisture flows into the passionless soil;
A prerequisite for life within.
How could dark turn to light?
How could passionless soil ignite with zeal?
Impossible: To a fool’s heart.
Spiritual Truth: To the faithful.
Sown in New Life.
A seed imperishable, by God’s enduring love.
Sown into the good soil, where life begins.
A fracture has caught the light; a tender root extends.
A fragile stem forces its way through.
Darkness waves its white flag; light takes control.
