Rebuilding Faith | Back to You

About The Poem

Back to You is a vulnerable exploration of grief, spiritual fatigue, and choosing to look past the storm toward God. I strive to be honest with myself and with Jesus. There was a period where I let my circumstances (walking by sight) smother my faith. Back to You is conversational and rejects complex metaphors in favor of a bare and quiet exploration of hanging on by a thread. It captures the transition from feeling overwhelmed and weighed down by life’s storms to choosing grace, resilience, and the unwavering trust of the God who commands the storms.

Back to You

Lately I’ve been falling in
the deep end.
Drowning in the end of
what I see.
Faith is the lens I chose
to see through —
Can you bring me back to you?

Back to you, back to life —
Forgive my sins, restore my light.
Bring me peace
and heal my mind.
Can you hear me calling
out to you?

I haven’t been the best
in daily reading —
In the past, it came so easily.
I haven’t been the best
in daily prayer —
By a thread
I’m barely hanging on.

Some nights
I felt like giving up.
By your grace
I’ve seen the morning come —
Can you help me keep my eyes
on You?

Storms become silent
in the presence of God.
I will not drown in the end
of what I see…
Faith will bring me back to
you.
